About

The Officer Noah Aaron Leotta Foundation, Inc. Saves Lives

The Officer Noah Aaron Leotta Foundation, Inc. was started much like many other foundations.  It was born out of tragedy.  Officer Noah Aaron Leotta was a 24-year-old officer who had been a member of the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) for 3 years.  He was kind, caring, considerate, understanding, compassionate, selfless, humble, and of strong will, character and body.  He had found his calling as a police officer, and these traits and characteristics served him well in his profession.  He wanted to protect and serve his community and save lives, as do all the men and woman in blue.

Noah was keenly aware of the problems of drunk driving and the deadly results on our roadways. He knew that, one-third of the fatalities or about 10,000 people per year are attributed to drunk driving.  Drunk driving is not an accident.  An accident is not preventable.  However, drunk driving is preventable and the outcome is predictable.  Therefore, it is no surprise that Noah volunteered as a member of the holiday alcohol task force.  In fact, on the night of December 3, 2015 he was trying to protect us from drunk drivers.  However, sadly that night, Officer Noah Leotta became the face of the senseless and tragic victims of drunk drivers, when he was struck by a drunk driver while making a roadside stop, and died of his injuries a week later.  The result of these reckless and irresponsible drunk drivers that play Russian roulette with everyone on our roadways is death and destruction, and the shattered lives they leave behind.  The surviving family, friends and community of these victims of drunk drivers, suffer through pain, anguish, grief and despair without relief in sight.  Our hearts will never mend and the tears forever flow.

Therefore, we established the Officer Noah Aaron Leotta Foundation, Inc. with the express intent to prevent this from happening to other families and save lives.  Saving lives is what this foundation is all about, and is a continuation of what Officer Noah Leotta was trying to do that fateful night of December 3, 1015.  We will accomplish this through various methods of prevention, using education and supporting technology enhancements and enforcement.

Your support will keep Noah on patrol and help us save lives.  However, most of all do not be a perpetrator of drunk driving, and by not drinking and driving you will help reduce fatalities and injuries on our roadways.  Be a responsible and safe driver.  Always make a plan and take a safe and sober ride home.  Please, don’t drink and drive, for your sake and the sake of others.
